Abstract
Christopher Wise’s Conjurations recounts his experiences researching West African Sufism. Wise was born in Oklahoma and is a citizen of the Muskogee Nation. He has authored, edited, and translated numerous books on the Sahel. In his memoir, Wise reflects upon the complex personal history that led him to the study of Sufism in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Senegal.
